Solo Jazz and Solo Charleston FUNdamental workshops are a fun way to learn the catalogue of steps of the original (authentic/vernacular) solo jazz dance – precursor to modern jazz – which emerged in the ’20s-40s (the Jazz Era) as well as the 20s Charleston steps. As the name suggests solo jazz and solo Charleston are danced without a partner and are a wonderful way to improve your partner dancing, aiding your creativity and overall dancing technique, as well as great fun to learn in and of itself!
During the sessions we’ll spend time learning the mechanics of the individual moves, try some fun variations and spend plenty of time practicing to hot jazz, swing, smooth jazz, blues and big band music meaning you’ll squeeze some solo jazz and Charleston fitness into your Saturday morning too!
No experience necessary, these sessions are perfect those with no previous experience, those who dance other styles as well as long-time Lindy Hoppers as you’ll pick up some fun variations and get a chance to really drill-down into the technique of each step.
