Shim Sham
Date: Saturday 20th June 2026
About: Originally a tap dance from the 1930s called the Shim Sham Shimmy the Shim Sham was simplified to make it accessible to all. Almost 100 years on it’s still danced at lindy events all over the world. Watch here.

Jitterbug Stroll
Date: Saturday 5th December 2026
About: The Jitterbug Stroll was choreographed in 1992 by Ryan Francois, renowned lindy hopper. It’s a super fun routine we like to in a circle at our socials. Watch here.

Tranky Doo: Part 1
Date: Saturday 6th December 2025
About: Along with the Shim-Sham and the Big Apple, the Tranky Doo completes the holy trinity of the original swing-era jazz routines. There are many unknowns about this routine- what we do know, however, is that it was named after a chorus girl called Tranky Doo who would do a fall-off-the-log into a shuffle into boogies to exit the stage after performances (the now famous start of this routine). Danced to Ella Fitzgerald’s Dipsy Doodle.
We’ll be covering the first half of the routine in this session.

Dean Collins Shim Sham: Part 1

About: PART 1. The Dean Collins Shim Sham is a famous stylised take on the original choreographed by Hollywood/LA dancer Dean Collins. Unlike the standard Lindy Hop Shim Sham, which is commonly performed at social dances, the Collins version was originally created as a three-man performance piece and is a more advanced routine.
